Valentine's Day

Today is valentines day, and if you're like me (and the odds of that are high because you're reading my blog), you might be single, or whatever I am. Despite being aware that this is a fake holiday, and a completely and utterly consumerist driven day, it still holds weight as being a "Day to be with your Love(r)."

I'm not. :/

However! I do love music, so during my class breaks (instead of eating or studying), I will share with you (my readers), some neat things. Mostly emo valentine's day songs.


1. Valentine - TGUK



The best song about losing a girl. "If you're sorry, why wage war? I'm not fully convinced, there's something wrong with this. Could another point of view--biased and untrue, tear me away from you? Will you be my valentine? If I'm a world a-way."

Its just the best. Especially for today. Its sad, but it has a tinge of love and a splash of remorse, and a dash of doubt. Its just the best song to describe a relationship.

Just a really good song.

3. Ride Friendship - Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt


if you are lucky enough to be with a girl (or guy), that you really do care about, and don't mind looking a tad bit silly, then this is the boy. Off their first release, I love you I love you I love you and I'm In Love with you have the best day of your life, this song exemplifies love. "You make my heart explode." Thats about as cut and dry as you can get.

4. Ty Segall - You make the Sun Fry


Again, another song to have play with someone you love. Its just a true thing about love. Though its also about second chances. "Ever since a mighty man, made himself an iron hand--I was trapped inside of him, trying to get out. Oh won't you take me up a hill, and throw me in your coupe deville, and tell me that you love me still."

Ty made a mistake by being hard and getting an "iron hand." Though he, the In Love Ty, was trapped inside of himself, trying to break free from the stupor of hate. Then he proceeds to say the most beautiful things, "You make me so happy," "Our life is a story, won't you be my story girl?"

But the kicker is, the girl is so hot, and great, that she makes the sun fry, or atleast she makes Ty's Sun Fry, and thats all that matters.

5. Pigeon - Tennis



This one is self explanatory with the first line. "Been reaching for my baby." Its just a Love song about being in love.

6. My Heartbeat is Dying - The Raveonettes


7. Sometimes - My Bloody Valentine


8. When The Sun Hits - Slowdive


Sweet thing, I want you. Burns so fast it scares me. Mind games don't move me, gone so far don't lose me. It matters where you are. This song is for someone.

All of these songs are for someone.

Anyway, I hope everyone gets their valentine's day kiss, or whatever you're supposed to do on valentines day. I also hope that despite the consumerist nature of this day, we can all see that the silver lining is that everyone is celebrating (or hating) romance and love. Its a dying thing, and I know that people should live every day in love, but sometimes that doesn't get to happen. So embrace the one day that you can atleast act it. I'll do the opposite today, I'll act nonchalant, and indifferent to the pangs of  the heart. I'm not alone, but I am little lonely.
