That's right folks, Rap.
Now, I'm not going to divulge into the history, the intent or anything of actual substance. I'm just going to talk about rappers that I like.
Yup. Self-indulgent and worthless, just like the internet. Of course, if you're here reading this, then you may (or may not) care about my opinions on these matters. Anyway, I hope you enjoy them, and this is the last sentence of a preface about rap and hiphop.
Jay-Z
Don't really need to say anything here. He's paid his dues and he's getting paid now. His early stuff was great, his work in the early 2000s (i.e. the black album) set him in stone as one of the most important rappers ever.
G-Eazy
He sampled Marathon by Tennis. Tennis is one of my favorite bands, with marathon being one of my favorite songs of the summer. I don't care what else he does, he's a genius. You can find the work online.
Childish Gambino
Donald, Troy, or whatever else you want to call him. He's great. Simply great with words. His cover of Girls Lust For Life was interesting (and good).
Yoni Wolf/Why?
Alopecia is a rap record, if you don't like it you, foff. Lyrically speaking, Yoni wolf is a genius. Musically speaking, likewise. Alopecia is one of the most sincere rap records ever. Just look at Fall of Mr. fifths, or Good Friday. Simply great.
Snoop Dogg
Gin and Juice, and his work with the Doctor, made his career. I don't care much about anything else, but he's good.
Shwayze
Will you be my corona and lime? Katie P. got me into shwazy, pretty neat stuff.
Cee Lo Green
Fuck you. Cee Lo is quite possibly the versatile artist in popular music right now, and he deserves all of the credit that he gets.
Well, thats a short list, I don't really know what else to talk about.
If you want to send my some suggestions on who to listen to, just hit me up on here or facebook.
